Link-local XMPP can't store aliases or group memberships at all, and subscription and presence states are implicit (all contacts on the local network have subscribe = publish = Yes and no other contacts exist). As of April 2010, the XMPP server for Facebook Chat provides a read-only view of the user's Facebook contacts, so it could also usefully have this storage type.
